The first military history research we carried out was with regard to \u201cwhat my grandfather did in the war\u201d. Cyril Crawford was captured at the battle of Kalamata in 1941 and this page follows his journey through 4 years as a POW in Austria.<\/p>\n

We have been researching the war memorials of our local town and villages. This research is currently being transferred onto our new website dedicated to our men who lost their lives in The Great war of 1914-1918, WW1.<\/p>\n

Another piece of ongoing research is to find out how one of our Morton Ancestors ended up being caught up in the Napoleonic Wars. Known affectionately as \u201cUncle Ted\u201d within the family, Edward Marvin fought with the 1st<\/sup>\u00a0Foot Guards at Waterloo.<\/p>\n

Military Regiments research.
\nIn the research we have carried out into the soldiers from our villages, we have amassed quite a bit of material pertaining to the regiments they fought with. We will be starting to collate the information we have and will be publishing some of our material.<\/p>\n
